Pilatus PC-6: Field repair in the Indonesian jungle
A very special job was the field repair of a Pilatus Porter PC-6 belonging to an Indonesian airline. The aircraft had a landing accident at Long Alango airfield. The problem was getting there, as the landing site could only be reached by plane in a three-hour flight over the jungle with no possibility of landing. So there was only one alternative: a ten-day journey by boat across the river. The job was carried out in collaboration with Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG and completed perfectly. During the repair work, the employees were accommodated by the village elder. It was an extraordinary experience and "pure adventure" for everyone involved.
