Northrop F-5 Tiger: Replacement of the "Upper Cockpit Longeron" (UCL)
Combat aircraft are exposed to high loads for many reasons. Structural cracks can be the result. Heavily stressed parts must therefore be replaced regularly, such as the Upper Cockpit Longeron (UCL) on the F-5. When replacing this load-bearing element, the entire cockpit must be removed. The replacement UCL is an in-house product from RUAG AG. Kaelin carried out this special repair work together with the specialists from RUAG AG.
